They're bright, articulate, efficient, dedicated, and experienced.
At Ruby, we only hire the best. After all, your receptionists answer our phones too. Meet our extraordinary team of receptionists.
Heather moved here from Seattle to attend PSU, where she majors in Geography. We here at Ruby are glad she did. Soft spoken, she brings a sense of happiness and peace to each call she takes. Before heading to Portland, Heather took some time off and became Indiana Jones, backpacking through Asia. She fits in well here, as she is an avid coffee lover. She also likes to sew, ride her bike, and tend to her vegetable garden.
Erin, or E-Mac as she is affectionately known here, is a Portland native. Her favorite Ruby activity is taking complicated calls, which is great for us, because those occasionally come up. Another sushi enthusiast, Erin can be found eating the delicious bundles of seaweed, rice, and fish. She is also quite creative and is currently going to film school at Mt. Hood College. Who knows, she may be the next great director!
Lisa is one of our Ruby Receptionist early risers. Somehow she manages to stay cheerful all day, as though she did not watch the sun rise from her desk in the office. Always exceptional on the phone, Lisa puts her callers at ease with a simple "hello." A native Portlander, Lisa still enjoys exploring the city with her family. On a larger scale, Lisa loves to travel, seeing the sights wherever she may go.
Erin S. came to Portland from Broomfield, Colorado some time ago. We are delighted she made the trek because she found her way to us. Dedicated to her job, Erin has assured her place in each and every Ruby heart with her caffeine addiction and love of cake. She is also one of many very talented receptionists, playing music and dancing when not answering phones.
Born in Seattle, Washington, Angela migrated south as the greats eventually do. She fell into her role as a receptionist at Ruby naturally, handling calls like a pro from day one. To keep her batteries charged, Angela can be found enjoying a lunch of anything spicy and exotic. Her love for the exotic extends past her dining habits, and when not demonstrating her amazing reception skills at work, she hikes and explores the natural and urban wonders of Portland. Angela, as a trained Pilates instructor, also keeps the Rubies feeling and looking their best with her weekly classes.
Born on the Oregon Coast, Annie actually came to us by way of San Francisco, and before that, New York State where she attended Bard College. Annie is perfect for Ruby Receptionists because she loves laughing, something we like to do around here, talking to people from around the country, and being incredibly creative. In her spare time Annie works on her clothing store, makes videos, sings, dances, writes, and is an all around amazing person. We are lucky to have her as part of the team.
Raised in Milwaukee, but born in Fond du lac, Wisconsin (Kirsten provided a handy pronunciation guide, "Fondle-ack... it's French."), Kirsten arrived in Portland almost a year ago. An aspiring writer, Kirsten became a Northwesterner after a cross country drive with her husband, books, musical instruments, and cats. Shortly after her journey she found her way to Ruby where she loves getting to know our clients and eating the cupcakes we often have here. We will continue to supply the cupcakes, as long as Kirsten continues to be amazing.
Krystal, a sushi eating, scrabble winning, green tea loving, call answering dynamo, entered the Portland scene in 2005. Upon arrival Krystal discovered Portland have a great live show scene, which she enjoys outside of Ruby, along with art shows, films, and photography. Krystal is a model Ruby, always bringing her warm attitude to the office. It should be noted that Krystal is able to be an amazing receptionist before 6am, it is possible she has super powers.
Born in California, but living most of her life in Oregon, Hannah came to Ruby after moving back to Portland. She really knows her food, and some favorites are French bread with cheese, and ice cream. When not being a stellar receptionist she is reading, watching movies, hanging out with the family, and planning visits to places that interest her. We know she will go far in the world, and Ruby!
A drummer from Florida, Alexa found ruby after moving to Portland in 2003. Even when the days are grey and rainy, Alexa manages to squeeze a little Florida sunshine into every call she takes. Fun and professional while at work, she likes to kick back, play some music, enjoy some hummus, and play in our sporadic sunshine outside of the office.
Ang was born in an Albertson's Grocery store. Well, not really, but it would have been a great story. She was in fact born in a hospital in Arizona that has since been torn down and replaced with an Albertson's. It really is too bad there is not a "fantastic receptionist" section in the grocery store, because it would be a lot easier to find amazing receptionists like Ang if there was. when not rocking the socks off of Ruby callers, Ang hangs with her family and plays with her adorable daughter in their garden.
Catriona, or Cat to you and me, is a multifaceted wonder. She models, takes photos, and answers your calls with a grace and skill that will make your day better. Cat has a spunky sense of humor, and likes to say she works with crazy people, but luckily she fits in just fine. She is right, we are all crazy cool people, and Ruby is exactly where she belongs.
Guten Tag und herzlich willkommen! Shawna started life in Fulda, Germany but moved to the US in the early 80s. Fast forward to the 21st century and Shawna has made Portland her home. We love working with Shawna because of her optimism and joy for life. When not being awesome at Ruby, she is being awesome with her son, who is currently the reigning Shoots and Ladders champ of the house. Maybe Ruby will have to have a S and L party.
Sara Lee is a Ruby treasure. She specializes in brightening the days of everyone she speaks to on the phone, and in person. We almost lost her to L.A., but luckily no one can resist the sunny weather and mild temperatures of Portland... well, she came back anyway and we are very glad she did. Outside of the office Sara Lee plays with her Australian blue heeler, Jake the Wonder Dog, and her daughter, the wonder gal.
Santa Rosa, California, a quiet town in Northern California, got a little quieter the day Kendra moved to Portland. Her infectious smile and laugh make her a fabulous coworker and Ruby. Like so many Rubies, Kendra loves to write and describes herself as an avid diarist. Balancing the professional with the silly, Kendra brightens your callers' days, which is the mark of a great receptionist. As if all of this were not enough to make you love Kendra, she is also a silversmith and Lindy Hopper! Kendra is what one might call a renaissance woman and Ruby Receptionists is overjoyed to have her.
Ask anyone at Ruby Receptionists who Tasia is, and they will tell you she is the sweet girl who can do an uncanny imitation of a cat. When not practicing her animal noises, she is answering your calls and blowing your mind with her receptionist skills. During her breaks one can usually find her devouring a book, usually Stephen King, or practicing yoga. She also, like so many of us, has an insatiable love of coffee, which is pretty much a job requirement. Originally from Wheatridge, Colorado, she has slipped seamlessly into the Portland art scene with her painting. There are no two Tasias!
Sara is one of the few Rubies who can call herself a Oregon Native. Growing up in Hillsboro, OR she moved the exhausting 13 miles to Portland to hang out with the cool kids. Sara takes full advantage of everything Portland has to offer, visiting new restaurants, supporting local music and art, and enjoying the outdoors when she can. When the weather does not allow for outdoor fun (and let's face it, this is Oregon), Sara settles in with a good (or bad) zombie flick. Sara exudes awesome, and you can hear it in every call she takes. She will blow your mind with her phone presence!
Ruby has a way of enticing the California girls, like Kayla. Originally from Southern California, Kayla traded the sun and sand for Portland's slightly different climate. Still, when a sunny day presents itself, you can bet you will find Kayla riding her bike on the waterfront esplanade. Her favorite food is a Chicago dog, although she has never had one. Kayla is majoring in political science, with an interest in history and travel. Of course, she would not be working at Ruby if she did not personify the Ruby spirit, and you can hear it every time she transfers a call to you, so take a moment and say hi!
